FAQ:
How do you put downloads into the game? You need to unzip the .package files into your 'Downloads' folder which is located in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads. If you don't have a downloads folder in 'the sims 2' folder, you need to create it yourself. More detailed step-by-step instructions on how to install new content into the game can be found in the following mts2 wiki articles: Extracting file archives Installing Package files Downloading FAQ's What is 'mesh'? Mesh is a .package file that contains information about the shape of hair, outfit etc. That is why texture files(recolors) will not work without them. Meshes are often non-redistributable, so you have to download them from mesh creators' sites. The url where you need to download the mesh from is always in the descriptions, so make sure you read them carefully. How do you install meshes? You don't have to do anything special. Just put them into your 'Downloads' folder just like any other regular download. What is your file sharing policy? - Feel free to share my creations as long as you give me a credit and a link back here. - Do NOT hotlink my files. Point people to html pages instead. Can I modify your creations? Obviously, you can't take credit for something I've made. Say, you can't make a simple recolor or make a few basic changes and then claim that it has been made by you. You may use parts of textures to make something very different from the original creation. Your custom content looks different in my game! 1.Textures look blurry/non detailed: I take my screenshots at 1024 X 768 game resolution with all graphics options including antialiasing set to max. So make sure your game graphics settings, esp the texture detail, are set to high. Playing the game on highest settings might slow down your game significantly though. 2. Eye liners/shadows have different shapes from ones that were shown: The shape of the eyeliner is strongly influenced by your sims' facial structure. That's why some of the makeup will not look the way it was meant to be on all sims. When I create eye makeup, I refer to maxis default face alot (2nd one in bodyshop). I also use a model with this facial structure when I take eye makeup preview shots. 3. Makeup textures look different: Some of the lipsticks/eyeshadows are semitransparent, which means that they will partially blend with the skintone that you are using. Also, stuff that I make will look best on light/pale skintones, because I mainly use light skins for reference while creating makeup. 4. Hair showed up in my game, but I can't see it! Make sure you download the hair mesh! Links to sites where you can download them are always in the descriptions. How do you create custom content? - For creating genetics, makeup, basically all stuff that goes onto Sims, you use Bodyshop and some photo editing software, like Photoshop. - For object recolors(like furniture), you use SimPE program and a photo editor for editing textures. - For creating new meshes you will also need some 3D editing software like Milkshape, 3dsmax etc For more information check out the tutorials section on modthesims2.com http://www.modthesims2.com/wiki.php?title=MTS2:Create Is there any way I could be notified whenever your new creations are published? Yes, I'm planning to create a mailing list some time soon, but as for now, feel free to subscribe to my blog RSS feed. Do you take requests? Well, let's just say I listen to what people say. If I hear the same thing many times, I might consider making it. Home |
